Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has automated the collection of the 5 per cent Passenger Service Charge at its local airports.

According to a statement by the General Manager, Corporate Affairs of FAAN, Mrs Henrietta Yakubu, said the move is part of efforts aimed at easing passenger facilitation at the nation’s airports.

“As part of efforts aimed at easing passenger facilitation at the nation’s airports, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria has automated the collection of Passenger Service Charge at her local airports.

“This is in line with the directive by the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) that check-in procedures at the airports be streamlined to improve the facilitation of passengers.

“With this development, the use of the Passenger Service Charge sticker at the departure gate was discontinued with effect from Monday, March 19, 2018. Henceforth, departing passengers who have checked-in prior to arrival at the airport can proceed directly to the boarding gates,” said the statement.

In a related development, the Airport Council International (World) team has concluded its review of the Port Harcourt International Airport and would next week begin the Review of the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, towards the Certification of the Aerodrome.

According to FAAN, Enugu and Kaduna Airports would follow afterwards.
