Nepal Tourism beckons African tourists: Offers walking tours of Kathmandu Valley, Himalayan Mountain range, others

Nepal tourism walk

Striving to win back its huge tourists patronage from across the globe after being hit by an earthquake which wreaked havoc on the country last year, Nepal, the nation of the Himalayan mountains, is back to reposition its destinations with a collections of adventure tourism products.

From three to one week tours across the various adventure tourism sites, the Nepal Tourism Board is seeking to attract visitors back to its destination with its star product of a 4-5 Day Walking Tour Package which presents the Himalayas Mountain range (including the famous Mount Everest) for the visitor.

Detailed itinerary:

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu. Transfer to the hotel. Rest day free at leisure:

Altitude: 1300m

Transfer: Private A/C vehicle

Accommodation: Hotel Soaltee/Himalaya or similar

Meals: None

Upon arrival in Kathmandu, having cleared immigration, collected your luggage and passed through customs, please make your way towards the exit of the terminal building where you will see a bank of people waiting for you. Amongst them will be Yeti Travels Representative who will be waiting to greet you with a placard with your name on it.

Day 02: Drive to Sundarijal (1350) and trek to Chisopani (2140m):

Altitude: 2140m

Transfer: Private A/C vehicle

Estimated time: 1hour drive and 4hours easy walk

Hiking: Private local English speaking Licensed guide

Accommodation: Simple Tea House/Lodge

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Drive to Sundarijal [approx. 1 hour] and trek to Chisapani [approx. 4.5 hours]. The trail will start from Shivapuri National Park. The route heads down the ridge through the forest of oak and rhododendron to Chisopani.

Day 03: Trek from Chisopani to Nagarkot:

Altitude: 2165m

Estimated time: 4-5hours easy walk

Hiking: Private local English speaking Licensed guide

Accommodation: Club Himalaya

Meals: Breakfast

The trek from Chisopani to Nagarkot is approx. 4-5hours walk. In the clear weather clients can view the Himalaya ranges, stretching from Dhaulagiri in the west all the way past Everest to Kancchenjunga in the east.

Day 04: Drive back to Kathmandu en-route visit Bhaktapur city:

Transfer: Private A/C vehicle

Estimated time: 1hour and 15minutes drive from Nagarkot to Kathmandu

Sightseeing tour: Private local English speaking Licensed guide

Accommodation: Hotel Soaltee/Himalaya or similar

Meals: Breakfast

After breakfast, drive to Telkot and start your day hike to Changu Narayan, the trail from Telkot passing through villages and fields. From Telkot, the trail enters to forests then a short level walk will take to Changunarayan. The entire walk offers superb views of villages and mountains and filled with cultural experiences. Changunarayan is a UNESCO world heritage site. It is said to have been built in 323 AD by King Hari Datta Varma and it is the oldest temple of Nepal. The temple is richly decorated with sculptures and carvings. After spending some time in the area we will drive back to Nagarkot.

Approx 3 hours of easy walking

Bhaktapur: It is located east of Kathmandu and is mostly inhabited by Newars who still follow age old traditions and customs. It houses some of the best examples of Nepali craftsmanship on wood and stone such as the Palace of 55 windows built in 1697, the five storied Nyatapola Temple, the Kashi Biswanath Temple, and the Dattatreya Temple among many others. Considered a living museum one can witness ancient traditions carried out even today as they were centuries ago in many areas of the city such as in Potters square where the local potters use age old techniques to make clay pots. Bhaktapur is also among the seven Monument Zones that make the valley World Heritage Sites.

An authentic representation of the Nepali culture Bhaktapur is said to look like what Kathmandu was before centuries ago before the arrival of the modern era.

Day 05: Trip end, depart Kathmandu:

Meals: Breakfast

After breakfast drive to airport to connect onward journey.

*Meet and assist at the airport and transfer to the hotel by our representative

*2nights accommodation at Hotel Soaltee/Himalaya [Deluxe room] or similar – Kathmandu in a twin sharing room on bed and breakfast plan

*1night accommodation at Club Himalaya [Deluxe room] or similar – Nagarkot in a twin sharing room on bed and breakfast plan

*1night/2 days trekking using Simple Tea House Lodge in a twin sharing basis on full board plan including guide, porters, trek transfer and national park permits

*Hike from Telkot to Changu Narayan with local English speaking guide

*Sightseeing tour of Bhaktapur city with local English speaking guide

*All applicable entrance fee at various monuments as indicated in the program.

The above cost does not, however, include:

*Nepal visa fees. US$ 25.00 per person valid for 15 days from the date of entry.

*International and domestic airfare and airport taxes.

*Lunches and dinners during their stay in Nepal. [Except in Chisopani which is on full board plan]

*Refreshments, tips, bottled drinks and bar bills.

*Insurance and rescue of any form.
