satSouth African Tourism was awarded the Best Tourism Marketing Agency in Africa Award on 26 October 2014. The recognition was made at an awards ceremony held during the official opening of the AKWAABA Africa Travel Market in Lagos.

South African Tourism Chief Executive Officer, Mr Thulani Nzima, commended the efforts of all who have played a role in ensuring SA Tourism’s successful marketing work into Africa.

“Winning awards for marketing excellence in tourism is always the result of collaborative effort and partnerships with others. We would like to thank the African travel trade and media for exceptional support, for championing South Africa in their work and for taking the message of a warm, welcoming, beautiful destination to African tourists”.

The award was bestowed by the Pan African Award Committee made up of travel professionals and journalists from across the continent. Together they endorsed a renowned online voting poll that chose South African Tourism as the Best Marketing Agency in Africa, based on market penetration and effectiveness in the Region.

“South African Tourism has made a significant investment into the continent, and in particular, West Africa. Opening an office in Lagos and having in-country agencies in six other markets, was in response to the immense potential we saw in growing tourist arrivals from the continent,”

“I believe what has made our entry into this market a success, is our understanding of an African consumer that is savvy and intent in their choice. To develop travel packages and deliver exceptional experiences suited to their needs has made the dissemination of this message believable and therefore impactful,” concluded Nzima.

South African Tourism exhibited at West Africa’s trade show AKWAABA which took place from 26 -28 October, 2015 at the New Expo Centre, Eko Hotel & Suites on Victoria Island.
