NTDC set to establish tourism information desks at airports

fascinating nigeriaDirector-General of the Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC), Mrs Sally Mbanefo has expressed her readiness to establish Tourism Information Desk in major airports across the country in a bid to present a better image of Nigeria to the International community.

The NTDC boss who stated this when she paid a courtesy visit to the Subsidy Re-Investment and Empowerment Programme (SURE-P) boss in Abuja further revealed that the agency would also produce a branded magazine for private sectors and government establishment to showcase their tourism assets.

“I will ensure publication of a National Domestic Tourism Calendar for all, set up Tourism Information Desk at major airports, produce NTDC branded magazine for private sector and state government to showcase their tourism assets, organise a television quiz game show that will educate Nigerians on tourism sites and reward them for visiting the sites.

While soliciting for partnership with SURE-P, she stated her determination to enhance the tourism value chain for improved revenue generation in addition to the domestic tourism agenda.

Responding, the chairman of SURE-P, General Martin Luther Agwai (rtd), eulogised her efforts towards promoting domestic tourism in Nigeria which he said would be of immense benefit to the country.

On his part, the president of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Alhaji Muhammed Garba, further lauded NTDC initiatives and promised to support the agency to actualise its domestic tourism agenda.

Nigeria is a council member of the International Coalition of Tourism Partners (ICTP).
