Hathaway, Level 42 headline 2014 Cape Town International Jazz Festival

Popular American acts like Lalah Hathaway and Level 42 lead the cast of top performers billed for the 15th Cape Town International Jazz Festival (CTIJF). The full cast was unveiled at the Jazz Festival Press Conference, which took place weekend at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC), venue of the festival.

Home-based South African artistes leading the cast of performers at the jazz festival include: AKA and Da. L.E.S; The Mike Rossi Project: Trespassing Permitted; The Blue Note Tribute Orkestra; Bokani Dyer & Kyle Shepherd; Mathew Gold; Mi Casa; The Shape of Strings to Come.

Others include: Jimmy Dludlu (featuring Alvin Dyers, Richard Ceasar and Saadiq Khan, with C-Base Collective); and, The Worcester Secondary School Band.

From the international contingent, artistes headlining the event include: Abdullah Ibrahim and Ekaya; Andreya Triana (United Kingdom); Kirk Whalum The Gospel According to Jazz Africa Chapter 1; Frank Paco, (Mozambique); Lalah Hathaway (United States); Level 42 (United Kingdom); Moh Dediouf (Senegal); Randy Weston’s African Rhythms Trio (United States); Shakatak (United Kingdom); Tasha’s World (The Netherlands); Tizer Quintet (United States).

The 15th Cape Town International Jazz Festival (CTIJF) holds this march 28 and 29.
