Cape Town welcomes Africa’s Next Top Model filming

As presently among the preferred destination list in Africa, South Africa has also become a place where people come for glamour, fun, style, shopping, urban life, a lot of TLC, good food and wine, good friendships and in all of this, you live the beautiful life.

The choice of the country for filming movies or reality shows is also not in doubt as many of the world’s beautiful people have visited the country because of its accessible destination and a fantastic gateway. Hollywood icons like Denzel Washington, Ryan Reynolds, Leonardo Dicaprio, Halle Berry and Matt Damon are amongst the many that have had the great pleasure of filming in South Africa.

South African Tourism’s theme for the project is Live the Beautiful Life.

We invite the continent to come to South Africa to Live the Beautiful Life,” says Thulani Nzima, Chief Executive Officer at South African Tourism.

A great addition to a holiday in South Africa is engaging and connecting with locals who are eager to share their South Africa with tourists from the continent. Meet and connect with locals in the trendy jazz lounges, in the modern cities, at the various events in South Africa, such as Cape Town Fashion Week and the Joy of Jazz. Go back home having created new friendships in South Africa.

“Africa’s Next Top Model came as a natural fit for South African Tourism as the show offers a fantastic opportunity to market South Africa on the continent. Regional Africa continues to be an important market for destination South Africa. Arrivals from the rest of the continent grew 8.5 percent last year, to 6 634 933 tourists in total. The individual markets performed really well: Nigeria grew by 13.8 percent; Ghana grew by 23.8 percent; Kenya grew by 9 percent, Angola grew by 21.7 percent; and Tanzania grew by an incredible 25.4 percent,” says Nzima

Nigerian supermodel extraordinaire, Oluchi Orlandi, Host and Executive Producer of Africa’s Next Top Model says: “South Africa has great vibrant cosmopolitan cities, breathtaking scenery and warm people. We cannot wait to start filming the series in August in Cape Town. I am very happy to bring Africa’s Next Top Model to South Africa. I’m honoured to be part of the successful franchise; Africa’s own version of America’s Next Top Model was definitely overdue. I’ve been to South Africa many times and I’m sure this is the best location for the show.”

Africa’s Next Top Model will be aired on M-Net’s AfricaMagic channels later this year. Oluchi Orlandi will be present at all the scouting auditions to personally select the 12 lucky girls who will travel to Cape Town, South Africa for the filming of Africa’s Next Top Model.

Scouting dates and venues are: Mozambique (Maputo) at Polana Serena Hotel on the 6th of July 2013; South Africa (Johannesburg) at the Sandton Convention Centre on the 9th of July 2013; Kenya (Nairobi) at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC) on the 14th of July 2013;  Ghana (Accra) at the M Plaza Hotel on the 20th of July 2013; Nigeria (Lagos) at the Federal Palace on the 23rd of July 2013; Angola (Luanda) at the Paz Flor Cultural Centre on the 28th of July 2013; and South Africa (Cape Town) at the Cape Town Convention Centre (CTICC) on the 1st of August 2013.

According to organizers, applicants must be 18-27 years old at the time of application, at least 5’7″ (170cm) in height, and must not have an existing contract with a modelling agency at the time of application. Plus-sized models are eligible to apply, but no male models.
