nigeriaDirector General of the Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation Mrs. Sally Mbanefo has revealed July 1 as official launch date for the new tourism brand identity for Nigeria, tagged;  “Fascinating Nigeria.”

Mbanefo made the declaration during a visit by 14 Senior Student Officers from the National School of Public Policy Lahore, in Pakistan to the headquarters of the NTDC in Abuja.

The initiative according to her will be launched by the Honourable Minister of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and National Orientation, High Chief Edem Duke alongside other Stakeholders in the industry.

Although a July date was announced by Duke at a pre-launch event at the National Theatre, Iganmu, penultimate Friday, the minister did not specifically set a date for the official launch beyond hinting at the first week of July, this year, for the event scheduled for Abuja.

Receiving the visitors with other management staff of the Corporation, the new NTDC chief stressed that beyond the vast cultural activities, attractions and destinations of Nigeria, the strongest point is the warmth of Nigerians themselves.

During a two-hour interactive session, the NTDC boss said her primary target is to develop domestic tourism as a way of creating wealth, generating employment for the teeming youths and by extension, address infrastructural deficit and poverty in the country.

Mbanefo highlighted the efforts of the NTDC to develop and promote Nigeria’s tourism potential through increased professionalization, learning from best practices and increased emphasis on research and results based projects.

Fielding questions from the Pakistani delegation, Mbanefo was positive that cultural, religious, ethnic and sectional divergence will not impede the goal of developing tourism across Nigeria with emphasis on the grassroots.

The leader of the delegation who doubles as the chief instructor at the National School of Public Policy at Lahore, Pakistan, Mrs Seemi Waheed said the purpose of the visit was to look at how policies are formulated and strategies are made and implemented to meet the national objectives of the countries they are visiting saying the group intends to spend 5 days in Nigeria visiting strategic Parastatals and agencies.

While answering further questions, Mbanefo assured that her administration will engage Public Private Partnerships with a view to addressing infrastructure projects to create the necessary capital to support budgeting with the aim of actualizing financial self sustainability in the long run.

I have never seen a blog site where there is no provision for comments. I think this Site is now a one-way propaganda tool designed to launder infantile programs of god fathers and god mothers. Biv Nze should close shop if is there is no longer provisions for readers comments. What a shame for Nigerian journalism.
