Sheraton Lagos, Le Meridian in A/Ibom, PH sweep awards at Starwood GR events

Three Starwood hotels in Nigeria including; Le Meridien Ibom Hotel & Golf Resorts in Akwa Ibom State, Le Meridien Ogeyi Place in Port Harcourt, as well as the Sheraton Lagos Hotel came tops with various prestigious awards as the parent company concluded its annual Global Roundtable (GR) events.

This year, close to 1000 participants from Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide converged on Poland’s capital, Warsaw for the company’s yearly global Roundtable events, which essentially consists of an intense agenda that pulls together General Managers and their executive teams.

A total of 15 workshops were on the agenda, adding up to an impressive total of 6,800 hours of training for participants. This yearly executive summit also provided an opportunity to celebrate and recognize the special achievements of Starwood Hotels and Resorts top performing Hotels.

The awards to the three Nigerian-based Starwood hospitality establishments therefore formed the major highlight the saw Le Meridien Ibom Hotel & Golf Resorts in Akwa Ibom winning the Top Hotel in Guest Satisfaction award; Le Meridien Ogeyi Place in Port Harcourt carting home the Top Hotel in Excellence in Food and Beverage Operations awards; while pioneer Starwood hotel in Nigeria, the Sheraton Lagos Hotel bagging the Hotel of the Year in Africa award.

These prestigious awards were presented by the Starwood President for Europe Africa and Middle East (EAME)- Mr. Roeland Vos alongside Mr. Hassan Ahdab, Vice President and Regional Director of Operations Africa and Indian Ocean (AFIO).

The awards were received by the Area General Manager for Starwood Hotels in Nigeria, Mr. Alexander Gassauer and top executive members from his Nigerian team.

Starwood President (EAME) Mr. Roeland Vos made the following closing remarks “In all, I believe that this year’s Roundtables were a success, we achieved a lot and made the most of our time together to get aligned and learn as well as innovate. This is all for the common goal of exceeding guest and customer expectations.

Meanwhile, the Sheraton Abuja Hotel, Thursday, October 4, commenced its journey into South Korea as the famous Papillion Restaurant of the hotel introduced exotic authentic cuisine from Seoul, the country’s capital city.

South Korean Food Festival which commenced Thursday, runs till Saturday, October 6 and will feature a variety of truly delightful South Korean cuisine.

Korean chefs from Starwood Hotels and Resorts World Wide -Westin Seoul will be on hand to offer world renowned Korean dishes such as Hae mul japchae (Potato Starch Noodles Stir-fried with Seafood & Vegetables).
