Aregbesola pledges on 2012 Osun Osogbo Festival

The 2012 Osun-Osogbo Festival Planning Committee has disclosed the readiness of the Osun State government under the leadership of Mr. Rauf Aregbesola, to boost the festival in order to enhance the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the State.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Home Affairs, Culture and Tourism, who also doubles as the Chairman of Tourism Inspectorate Committee, Mr. Oladipo Soyode made this disclosure in Osogbo, the state capital, during a meeting held in his office with members of the committee.

Soyode stated that the present administration in the state has resolved to execute some notable capital projects in the tourism sub-sector so as to increase tourists’ patronage of the tourism sites in the state.

He therefore assured that this year’s Osun Osogbo festival will be different from the previous ones held as the government will make adequate medical arrangements, provide security, transportation, market space and tourism pavilion for tourists, saying this will help in achieving Governor Aregbesola’s goal of developing Osun Osogbo festival to the world standard.

The governor’s aide who explained that his committee is saddled with the responsibility of collecting rates on hospitality and other tourism enterprises in the state, also led the members of the committee on a visit to Osun Osogbo shrine and other historical sites in the state.
