Nigeria’s Tour brokers honoured as SAA awards excellence in travel, tourism

Lagos, Nigeria-based, Tour Brokers International leads a host of some of the African continent’s top travel and tours operators honoured as the South African Airways (SAA) unveiled its annual awards for excellence in the industry, at a ceremony held in Durban, KwaZulu Natal, South Africa, last Monday.

According to SAA, the top travel agents were among the list of other operators who have made a significant contribution to the airline’s revenue growth and South Africa’s tourism industry in general.

The awards ceremony, which took place in Durban Monday, is held annually as part of the Tourism Indaba, Africa’s premier travel and tourism exhibition.

“Travel agents are a critical part of our business and play a significant role in the airline’s growth. It is thus only fitting that, on an annual basis, SAA recognises and celebrates the contribution made by travel agents. We will continue to strengthen these partnerships as they form an integral part of SAA’s growth strategy,” said Theunis Potgieter, SAA General Manager Commercial.

Nominees were chosen from the international regions in which SAA operates. The winners were: South Africa:  Club Travel- Cape Town (South Africa).

For Southern Africa:  Voyagers Travel – Ndola, Kitwe, Lusaka, Chingola (Zambia); for USA and Canada- Lion World Travel – Toronto (Canada); for South America; Queensberry Viagens – São Paulo (Brazil); for Continental Europe-Meier’s Weltreisen – Frankfurt (Germany); for East Africa and Middle East-DNTA – Dubai (United Arab Emirates).

For North, West & Central Africa- Tour Brokers International – Lagos (Nigeria); for Stellar Travel –  Accra (Ghana); for East Africa and Middle East-CWT – Walji’s Travel –  Dar Es Salaam (Tanzania) and Holidays Bazaar –  Nairobi (Kenya).
