In line with the principle of giving back to the community and corporate social responsibility (CSR), the Sheraton Abuja Hotel has donated to children of the homes for the less privileged in the society in Abuja.
The show of concern was led by representatives from Capital Hotels Plc (Owners of Sheraton Abuja Hotel) Mr. Ifeanyi Apai, Mr. Kingsley Anyanwu, and Ms.Margaret Amadi together with the Public Relations Manager of Sheraton Abuja Hotel-Nanji Tyem who went on a trip around the Federal Capital Territories (FCT) to selected homes for the less privileged in the area.
It should be noted that General Manager of Capital Hotels Plc-Mr. Robert Itawa championed this commendable feat with the central idea of organizing a CSR team to cater for the less privileged.
The visit was which spread into two days began Tuesday November 22, with a team from the hotel visiting the Stella Obasanjo Child Care Trust inside Bwari Area Council, a renowned school for physically/mentally challenged children as well as Autistic/less privileged children.
The Capital Hotel’s team also visited the Christ Foundation Orphanage home in Kuje, a home for orphans as the name implies.
Child Care Trust in Bwari, the home’s Manager, Mrs. Hanny Harmony, alongside her devoted staff was filled with joy and excitement as the Capital Hotels/Sheraton Abuja team arrived.
The team members were conducted on an intense tour of the facility where areas of need were pointed out.
The Spokesperson for the Delegation-Mr. Kingsley Anyanwu stated that “identifying with the weak and down trodden of the society is one of the virtues embraced by the company, and visiting them with relief and love is worth the effort to the human spirit”.
The Climax of the day unveiled with the good will handover of electronics , house hold items, provisions, food stuff, toiletries and school stationery for the children’s use.
Harmony and staff along with the children were indeed overwhelmed with gratitude.
Christ Foundation Orphanage home in Kuje, Founder-Mrs. Patricia Oye-kuta and the children gladly welcomed the Capital Hotels team, there were introductory sessions where all the children were introduced, kids of all ages came out, of note was their healthy robust looks and cheerful dispositions, some of them had even finished university.
The highpoint of the event was the handover of food items, provisions, electronics, toiletries, books and clothing for the kids preceded by a brief thanksgiving/prayer session led by Mr. Ifeanyi Apai.
The Visionary expressed her deep appreciation for the heart warming act of love and compassion displayed by Capital Hotels Plc-(Owners of Sheraton Abuja Hotel). Ms. Margaret Amadi (Spokesperson for the day 2 visit) promised more of such worthwhile visits from the team.
There followed a photograph session and thereafter emotional goodbyes.
